Quick, Easy Market Sign

I have 6 weeks to get ready for the Braselton Antique Festival.  Six weeks!!!  So now I am in panic mode, I don't know what I have to take or even if I have enough stuff!  I needed some quick easy projects & fast!  I was looking over my wood pile to see what I had that I could throw together quickly.  I came across a broken piece of wood & knew it would make a great sign.  The hard part was deciding what to put on the sign.  Luckily I had been on Pinterest drooling  looking at kitchens & I remembered seeing a cute sign that said "Market".

Here is a piece of broken wood perfect for a sign.

(You will also need a cute little paw like the one in the bottom of this photo to help you.)

I printed out letters on my computer, taped them down & traced around them with a pencil.

I heard about this Sharpie paint markers & decided to give them a try.

The markers filled in nicely on the wood.  I was surprised how well they covered.  Of course I had to remove some of my hard work of coloring to make it look worn.  So I lightly sanded & then added American Paint Company Clear wax  to protect it.  The broken corner looked too new so I added a little dark wax.

In less than an hour I have a super cute sign to take to the festival.  (If I don't keep it for myself!)

    1. Thanks, Gee! I found them at Hobby Lobby :)

  2. Wow! Nice sign. Sharpie pens do come in handy for many crafts, esp. the ones that require lettering :)
