Bedroom by CeCe Caldwell

We have a problem. My daughter & I. It's all my fault (I am sure) but it's a problem. We like to redecorate rooms. Her room. Over & over. She is 12 & I we have redecorated her room 5 times already.  I figured this last time would last for a while.  She was 11 & picked out a lot of the stuff (meaning I didn't ignore what she wanted & just went with what I liked).  It all started when I brought home a vintage French bed.  She decided she wanted it, so what was I to do?  I mean, I really wanted her twin beds for the second guest room (formerly my stepson's room).  See, that's part of the problem.  We didn't need a 2nd guest room upstairs but I really wanted to change his room.  I wanted to decorate something.  So I painted the bed for her & took her beds for me.  The way I see it, it was a win-win.  Right?

Here is her room before.  Warning, there are some very bright colors! And bad pictures!

Looking in from the hallway

I loved this idea!  Her name was on the foot of the other bed.

The previous room was pink & brown.  We painted white over the pink at the top.   She was didn't pick the pink & brown to start with tired of the pink & brown  & wanted to add her favorite color, turquoise.  She was 9, I think that is every girl's favorite color at that age.  She had to have the peace quilt from Pottery Barn teen & being the mom I am, I wanted her to be happy so I paid too much for quilts that we had less than 2 years.
So back to the French bed that started it all.  Once she said she wanted it I thought about how great it would look in her room, more grown up & we could go ahead & make her room a "teen room", that she would have for years.  Her favorite color was now green, bright green.  We decided to put the green with gray & black.  Great colors & not too trendy.  The 1st thing we did was paint the walls white.  And the ceiling, did I mention we had painted the ceiling pink, too?  Yep, 12 foot tall ceilings with angles.  Not my best idea!
We picked out some houndstooth fabric for a duvet cover & some green fabric for long panels.  This would add a big splash of color to the walls without having to paint.
So where does the CeCe Caldwell come in, you ask?  I repainted the overly bright turquoise secretary & night stand in Pittsburgh Gray.

I also painted the Ballard's shelf in Pittsburgh.

We left the dresser alone even though it was painted with latex & too creamy, she liked it & I was tired of painting over furniture I had just painted.
The bed was painted Simply white with Spring Hill Green accents.

I also updated this bulletin board with Spring Hill green

The last painted piece was this end table.

This picture was painted by my daughter & was painted with CeCe Caldwell paints.

Just a few more pictures so you can see the whole room

I actually drug this chair up a flight of stairs (17 stairs!) just to take these pictures.  We have a chair in her room that I was going to recover & didn't get it finished in time!

What do you think?  I loved this room but....

we are redoing it again!!!!

I will be selling the bed, night stand, secretary & end table.
We have already started & I have now switched the curtains to white panels from Ikea.  So next year time we redo her room I won't have to buy curtains! ;)

  1. Oh!!! I was just falling so in luv with the grey , black and green theme. It is so fresh and grown up looking.
But, yes... I know teens. Just let me say, boys are not any less challenging when it comes to changes. I did quite a few in their preteen and teen years.
    Awaiting the new pictures :-)

  8. Just out of curiosity, what size is the bed? It looks like a twin, maybe a full? Have you sold it? Where are you? How much do you want?
Have I mentioned I absolutely love the bed?

I love what you're doing with your daughter's bedroom. Very sophisticated. You know you've created a decorating monster, don't you? She's going to be changing out her life/home every time she turns around because she's watching you, super mom, make it happen! A chip off the old block! :)

  10. I love this room...I never am a fan of stuffed animals, but in this room...that frog is so darn cute. That green is my kids fav, I like how you used it as an accent instead of making the whole room that color. Thanks for sharing!!!
