I Finally Took The Plunge

I did it, finally! I rented a booth at an antiques store. We moved everything in yesterday. I found City Antiques & Interiors last Friday (October 14th) and moved in yesterday! It was crazy! I wasn't sure I had enough stuff to fill my booth so I was crazy busy this past week trying to finish up & start projects to go into my booth.
I was so excited when I paid my first months rent. I thought about how I have always wanted to do something like this but I have always been afraid of putting myself out there. So the first 3 days there was excitement (thinking of the sales, planning my booth space) but then the nerves came in. I was suddenly regretting my decision. What if I fail? What if no one likes my stuff? What if nothing sales? I had already put the money out there & told everyone I knew. Now they would all know if I failed.
Luckily when I got everything set up in my booth & I took a step back ,all those feelings went away. I was excited, I was emotional, I was so glad I did it! Even if no one likes my stuff, I was so happy decorating my booth & putting everything out there for everyone to see. So what if I fail, if I never tried I wouldn't know what I could be capable of!
I did get a sale the first day! We set up the booth in the afternoon & then went to look at a warehouse with a paint booth. We were gone 15 minutes. When we came back into the store, there was a lady leaving with (what I thought) was one of my items. My daughter and I ran back to my booth to make sure it was really gone. It was! I had my first sale!!! It was a small sale but it felt huge!!!!
Here are some pictures of my booth:

I do have to give a huge shout out to Stacey @ Faux Studio Designs.  I was painting the Provence chest to go with the bed & nightstand I had already finished when I ran out of paint!!!  I was thinking there was no way I could get paint shipped to me & finish this piece to go into the booth Friday.  I have ordered chalk paint from several stockist & I knew Stacey was really good about getting her orders shipped quickly.  So Sunday night I ordered & had the paint on Tuesday when I got home from work!  She is crazy fast!  She didn't even know I was in a hurry to get it!  So if you need chalk paint in a hurry, order from Stacey, she rocks!

  1. Congratulations! Your booth looks AMAZING - you'll do well :) I have also been contemplating renting space at a local antiques mall; I'll be curious to read in the coming weeks what tips/tricks you've learned.

  2. I love it! Not only your lovely booth, but your attitude! Just do something. Every successful endeavor begins with a step of faith, doing what you can with what you have. Thanks for your example! Blessings on your new space, too.
