Chalk Paint=Fail

I have painted 3 pieces with chalk paint & they all went reasonably well (except for the one that isn't really the right color) So when I went to tackle my 4th piece I expected it would be quick & easy too. Wrong! I'm afraid I don't have a before picture of this but I do have a during:

This bleed through is after 4 coats of paint, yes 4!!  Now what?

  1. Jill my very first piece was doing this and the paint also cracked. I believe it was because I had covered the top with Old English spot cover which is very oily. I sanded the area down then I waxed the area. The wax became like a sealer. When I repainted it turned out perfect.
Then this weekend I decide to paint it Antibes green and distress it. I only had one very small original spot where the paint came up in a chunk but I had to really work at it to get it to come up. I think under normal wear and use the paint would not have come back off and no oily spots have shown back up at all.
    hope this helps.

  2. Thanks, Cherry! Not sure what I am going to do, don't really want to sand it down, maybe I can wax it & paint one more coat on top of it. Keeping my fingers crossed!
