Chalk Paint Bandwagon

Well, I did it. I jumped on the bandwagon. I purchased chalk paint because if it did everything everyone says, my life would be so much easier! I did like the paint, it was very smooth, has great coverage, dried quickly and has almost no odor. What I didn't like was the color. I ordered Graphite because I want to paint my kitchen table black & I knew the only way to do it was if the chalk paint is the best paint in the world. Well, Graphite is not black, its not even close! It was a very dark blue gray when I put it on. I was disappointed to say the least but gave it a chance because I knew my wax was coming & that would darken the color. Well, 1st I put on the clear wax & it was a little darker but still not black. Then I put on a dark wax & it's still not black. It is a very pretty dark blue black color now but not a true black. I think this piece turned out beautiful but I won't be using it for my kitchen table :(
This is one of my favorite pieces, I've had it almost a year & have tried to come up with a place in my house for it but just can't. I will disappointed to see it go. I purchased it with a complete set & this piece was just the icing on the cake. I was searching for 2 twin beds (have you ever tried to find matching unique twin beds? Tough, I'll tell ya!) I found the beds with headboards & footboards (my daughter actually liked them-bonus!) a dresser, huge mirror, this highboy, a small table & a small chair, all for $250!! I was only planning on using the beds & maybe the dresser but ended up refinishing the table & small chair. The table I use every day next to "my blogging spot". The chair was the perfect size for my daughter's room & looks great. I need to make a post about them, they both turned out great!
Anyhoo, I am way off subject! Here are the before pictures of the highboy

It has these tiny little hand painted flowers on it.  I wish I knew what the age of this piece.  And I've been calling it a highboy does anyone know if that's correct?

I didn't get a good close up of the knobs, they are the roman numeral clocks from Hob Lob.  I let my daughter choose them :)

French China Cabinet $300

I purchased this French China Cabinet a few months ago at an estate auction.  It was in fair condition & since I love everything French, I had to have it!  One of the best things is it had all of its original hardware, I only changed one of the original knobs just to give it a little something extra.  Unfortunately the former owners had put a very ugly large white fluorescent box light.  I gave it a cool white distressed look with a gorgeous gray interior.  I am loving it!  It fits perfectly into my dining room but I think it would be fabulous in a little girls room filled with lots of pink!

Measures 70"H x 48"W x 15 1/2"D

French Chest $225

Updated- Sold

This chest was one of my 1st Craig's list finds.  I was instantly in love with the lines of this piece.  Unfortunately I didn't take a before pic :(  but I do have one of the matching nightstand.  Just to give you  an idea of what it looked like before

I sanded the top down to the bare wood & lightly sanded the rest.  I painted the chest a beautiful clean white, distressed & glazed the whole thing.  I stained the top ebony & then waxed it to protect it and add a little shine.

Measures 50"H x 18"D x 35"W
